WORKSHOP FOR WRITERS

I developed a program for a series of workshops for writers in various locations,  aiming to activate and empower them to write about culture and music from their unique standpoint and experience.  The workshops facilitate knowledge exchange with established writers on independent cultures and scenes, decolonial narratives, writing about music and culture in challenging times, finding relevant topics and angles for stories, and structuring an article. I team up with various cultural institutions such as Module Exchange in Kyiv, European Lab in Lyon and Brussels, Unsound Festival in Krakow, and NoShade and Diaci in Tbilisi to offer workshops as a part of their educational program. As a part of the workshop’s agenda, I also host conversations with experienced music journalists to document and pass on their experiences to aspiring writers.

This initiative not only amplifies diverse voices in music journalism but also recognizes the dominance of major platforms in Berlin and London, fostering greater exchange between these influential platforms and emerging media and writers. The workshops offer valuable exposure, and networking opportunities, and contribute to cultivating a more inclusive and diverse landscape for music and culture journalism. Upon completing the workshops, participants will have the chance to publish their work on one of the media platforms within our network.

DJ WORKSHOPS FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Together with NoShade, we worked with several groups of teenagers and young adults from Pastor Braune Haus in Berlin during the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Special Olympics in 2022 and 2023. During these events, we performed as DJs and acted as a hype crew at the Olympic Stadium, Brandenburger Tor, and Stadion An der Alten Försterei. We provided prior DJ training at their foster house as well as at Pirate Studios. Additionally, we provided DJ training to the group, produced our team’s outfits, and created a hype crew in collaboration with Body positivity advocate Andra Wöllert (So Extra Berlin).

In these workshops and related activities, we aimed to build bridges between the vibrant and exciting Berlin club culture and the lives of individuals with disabilities who often have limited opportunities to be part of such "cool" experiences. By working with people with disabilities, we facilitate a connection between club culture and their everyday lives. This interaction not only allows them to feel included in something "cool," but it also opens our eyes within the club culture to the true meaning of inclusivity. We firmly believe in the power of inclusivity, and our experience working with this group of young individuals has taught us the importance of creating a welcoming and engaging environment for them.
